On 21 February 2024, the European Commission published an interim report on the progress made by countries in implementing the Economic Recovery and Resilience Facility (ERRF). ERRF was created to match the scale and ambition of the EU's economic recovery program. Its dual purpose is to help Member States recover from the COVID-19 pandemic and strengthen their resilience, as well as to stimulate economies and societies to become greener, more digitalized, and more competitive. Lithuania, together with other Member States, has identified reforms and investments in their ERRF plans, tailoring them to address national challenges.
The Lithuanian trade union Solidarumas proposed the meeting agenda of the Lithuanian Tripartite Council, willing to learn how projects and reforms under the ERRF have fared in Lithuania, what share of public finances has gone to the development and accessibility of public services, and what share has gone to private business. The proposal was presented on 21 February 2024. On 20 August 2024 the representative of the Ministry of Finance presented to the members of the Tripartite Council of Lithuania the developments of a "New Generation Lithuania" plan. The presentation topics mainly covered the updates of the "New Generation Lithuania" plan in 2023, the key plan indicators, and overall progress in plan implementation. The issues of the national tax reform and related ERRF funding, the consultation process with social partners, and the commercialization of the public services were discussed among the participants of the meeting.
